Wood Ranch is one of the first master planned communities in Simi Valley, California. Residents enjoy many amenities and are within walking distance to a local golf course.
This residential development was created in the mid 1980s in nine phases. There are four villages including Long Canyon Village and Lake Park Village. There is an urban feel to the Country Club Village which has a variety of condos, townhomes, senior complexes, and apartments. There are around 1,500 homes in this neighborhood. Sycamore Canyon Village features single family detached homes and gated townhome communities. There are about 1,190 homes here.
This community is served by the Simi Valley Unified School District with highly ranked facilities like Sinaloa Middle School as well as Madera Elementary School and Royal High School. There are several private institutions to choose from including Arroyo Montessori, Faith Academy, and Good Shepherd Lutheran School. Many higher learning schools are in this region like Ventura College, Moorpark College, and Cal State Northridge.
There are six golf venues in Simi Valley including the Wood Ranch Golf Club which offers dining, special event planning, tennis, and a Ted Robinson designed golf course. There are many parks in this region like Old Windmill Park and Sycamore Canyon Park. To the south is the Santa Monica Mountains Recreation Area which offers many preserves and parks like the Topanga State Park and the Whitestone National Park. There are miles of trails in the Challenger Park that lead to open areas like Lone Oak Canyon, Trough Canyon, and Long Canyon. This park features 141 acres of wilderness.
Simi Valley is considered to be a commuter bedroom community with residents working in larger areas like the San Fernando Valley, Ventura County, and Los Angeles.
